Power trouser. A very-high-waisted virgin wool trouser in saturated cobalt with deep front pleats and a turned-up cuffed leg — Escada's early-1980s power-tailoring silhouette, vintage per supplier (c. 1982).
The Designer
Founded in Munich in 1976 by Margaretha Ley, Escada became the defining German luxury house of the 1980s — Stockholm-trained tailoring, bold colour, novelty prints and statement embellishment. Pieces from Ley's era at the house (she led it until her death in 1992) are now actively hunted on the secondary market by stylists and archival buyers.
