Phoebe Philo's tenure at Céline from 2008 to 2018 defined the modern house lexicon — intellectual minimalism, architectural tailoring, and a devoted cult following now traded as "Phoebe-era Céline." The house itself was founded in Paris in 1945 by Céline Vipiana and has kept its ready-to-wear register at the top of French luxury ever since.
