Coloured linen, Paris cut. A pair of Balenciaga linen trousers in saturated chartreuse with a 5-pocket jean construction — the coloured linen silhouette the house used to define its early-2000s trouser register.

The Designer

Nicolas Ghesquière's fifteen-year tenure at Balenciaga (1997–2012) produced one of the most collected chapters in contemporary luxury — architectural tailoring, two-tone leathers, sculpted denim and colour-block trousers are the vocabulary collectors still hunt. The house was founded in 1917 by Cristóbal Balenciaga and moved to Paris in 1937.
