The Designer
Founded in Paris in 1961 by Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé, Yves Saint Laurent redrew the rules of modern womenswear — Le Smoking, the safari jacket, the Mondrian dress — and, with the 1966 launch of Rive Gauche, brought couture-level craft to everyday ready-to-wear for the first time.
