The Designer
Helmut Lang founded his namesake Vienna label in 1986 and moved to New York in 1997, where he reshaped nineties minimalism into a conceptual tailoring vocabulary — razor-edge silhouettes, bonded and rubberized fabrics, architectural cuts — until his departure from the house in 2005. The label continues under successive creative directors, but the archive (1986–2005) is where collectors look first.
