The Designer

Escada was founded in Munich in 1976 by Margaretha Ley, whose appetite for printed silks and bold colour defined German luxury in the 1980s and 90s. House silks remain a core register for the label — printed crêpes and fluid silhouettes in the Ley tradition, still cut with the Munich tailoring DNA the house was built on.
