The Designer

Céline was founded in Paris in 1945 by Céline Vipiana as a made-to-measure children's shoe atelier before expanding into leather goods and ready-to-wear. The house moved through a series of creative directors — Michael Kors (1997–2004), Ivana Omazic, Phoebe Philo (2008–2018), Hedi Slimane (2018–2024) — each shaping a distinct register of the archive. Vintage pieces from earlier eras still carry the Paris atelier's tannery discipline.
